Hair is personal. For a lot of our clients, it’s tied to identity, expression, and how they move through the world. Our role is to help align how you look with how you already feel — or want to feel. That process should feel easy, not overwhelming. At Kinetic, appointments are unrushed and collaborative. We take the time to talk things through, understand your routine, and create something that actually works for your day-to-day, not just the moment you leave the chair. The space itself reflects that approach. It’s calm, grounded, and intentionally low-pressure—more like being in a thoughtfully put-together home than a busy salon. We keep the energy balanced and respectful so everyone can feel comfortable and present while they’re here. It allows us to focus on the work, stay connected to what we’re doing, and create an experience that feels good from start to finish.
Nathalie Kalae
$225/hr Curl/Texture Specialist, Owner of Kinetic, She/Her - Born and raised in a small town in the Pacific Northwest, Nathalie’s aesthetic is heavily influenced by Seattle’s grunge scene. She appreciates easy, wash and go styles that are cut to your natural growth and hair fall. Proficient in razor and scissor cuts, Nathalie considers herself a master in her craft. Thoroughly loving to work with any and all hair textures. Nathalie opened her own Salon Suite in 2022, and by 2024 launched Kinetic.
Gabby Dent
$165/hr, Dry Haircut Specialist, She/Her Gabby has been taking clients in NYC since 2019. Having wavy/curly hair her entire life she is always willing to work with your natural texture to create that perfect look to fit your every day routine. Seamless grow out and longevity of the haircut is always Gabby’s main goal. Her skills are not only limited to cutting, Gabby is also involved in editorial & commercial styling. When she is not behind the chair, she’s probably on set or on location!
Jess Rizzo
$120/hr, Shags, Curls, Straight Razor Cuts She/Her What Jess loves most about hair is that it is a collaboration between the stylist and the client. She does what she can to address each client’s specific needs. Her specialty includes razor cut shags, precision cuts and curly haircutting, and she will stop at nothing to perfect her craft. In her free time she enjoys thrifting and spending time with her cat Marni.
Madeline Tam-Love
$120/hr Lived in Color Specialist, She/Her. San Diego scene kid turned NYC color addict. Aveda-trained, specializing in lived-in blends, fire-reds & coppers, and every vivid under the rainbow (yes, I’ve rocked them all since middle school). When I’m not behind the chair, I’m with my cats, a horror or superhero flick, and my latest musical theater obsession — hair is my art, you’re the masterpiece.
Stevie Gillhart
$80/hr, Junior Stylist, The/Them. Stevie prides themselves on the specialized care and service they give to each client. They believe that your hair is your playground to best express whatever identity represents your truth. They are skilled in natural cuts that give you grow-out longevity, but are always open to out of the box, funky and unique styles. Whether you prefer sheers, razors, or clippers Stevie's got you covered. Stevie’s journey into the world of hair has been supported and influenced by their commitment to community. They have intentionally learned how to treat all different hair types and have deep respect for the cultural and personal ties people have to their hair. When you’re in Stevie’s chair, they want you to feel cared for, listened to, and leave feeling refreshed and affirmed. Outside the salon, Stevie is a cabaret singer/drag performer throughout Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens.
Meg Baez
$75/hr, Stylist in Training, They/Them. Meet Meg, a born and raised Brooklynite who started doing hair professionally in 2022 — but their creativity with hair goes way back to childhood. Experimenting on their own hair turned into a real passion for helping others feel confident and express themselves. Meg specializes in gender-affirming haircuts that help folks feel seen and authentic to who they are. In their free time, Meg channels their creativity into making intricate chainmaille pieces, DIY projects, and other crafts — always finding new ways to bring art, expression, and imagination to life.
Farah Cheema
Farah Cheema (she/her), Colorist $100/hr Farah is a Pakistani American born and raised in Brooklyn. From a young age, she found self-expression through hair and spent hours watching hair makeover videos, fascinated by the science, artistry, and confidence they could inspire. After pursuing higher education in psychology, she realized what she loved most was connecting with people and helping them feel like the best version of themselves. Inspired by the fashion, art, and energy of New York City, Farah creates custom color that enhances each guest’s natural features while reflecting their individual style. Whether you’re looking for an effortless, lived-in blonde, a dimensional brunette, or a complete color transformation, her goal is to create hair that feels modern, personalized, and worthy of being your statement piece. Outside the salon, Farah is a proud cat mom, PC gamer, craft enthusiast, and unapologetic fan of brain-rot reality TV. She loves appointments that feel like catching up with a friend, and her chair is a space where clients can relax, laugh, and leave feeling more confident than when they walked in.
Matty Morris
Matty Morris (any/all), Hairstylist $115/hr Matty is a Brooklyn-based colorist whose work is rooted in a lifelong love of art, music, and personal expression. Raised in Tennessee and deeply shaped by his residency in New Orleans, his approach to hair carries the punk DIY spirit of both the people and places that have influenced him. His relationship with hair was initiated by cutting/coloring the hair of his punk friends and cemented through experimenting wherever creativity could take place. Matty has worked closely with friends and mentors, strengthening his craft in NYC since 2023. Today, Matty’s work draws from the fashion and music scenes of downtown, his love of photography + rock & roll, and a lifelong fascination with personal style. He specializes in lived-in color, dimensional blondes, glowing reds, grey blending, and expressive transformations that feel polished without losing their personality. While especially passionate about working with queer people, Matty welcomes clients of all identities, ages, and backgrounds. He sees hair as a form of self-expression and collaboration—a way to experiment with identity, reclaim your reflection, or simply feel more yourself. His goal is to create hair that feels authentic, confident, and distinctly personal. Outside the salon, you’ll usually find Matty with a camera or book in hand, finding new music on NTSradio, or exploring the city on his bike.
Will Martin
Will Martin (they/them), Colorist $125/hr Will has been coloring hair since 2017. Coming to BedStuy by way of Virginia, they’re inspired by their people, Queer Black People. A culture that dates back to before they were even born. Most of their friends are queer and not a single one of them look like the other. Some of Will’s biggest fashion and hair inspirations are their own friends. Warmed by the DIY haircuts and color their peers create, Will clearly understands that Fashion + Language are expressive, versatile and interchangeable. They want everyone who sits in their chair to feel 100% comfortable, as if y’all were friends. When Will is not behind the chair, they’re out & about getting inspired with friends, or at home with their cat Krule.
